a, while he dismissed the crowd. 46 After levnaig them, he went up on a mountainside to pray. I'm struck again by Mark's word choice, to use transition words like immediately , and then, that it would be so in this case. It's like, Jesus spends time teaching people, they get hungry, and then he miraculously feeds them. But it's not so that he can continue teaching He feeds them at the end, so they very easily could have just gone home to eat (well, I understand many of them had to travel pretty far). But it just further shows Jesus compassion Because it says that immediately after feeding them, he sends the disciples off and dismisses the crowd, so that he can go up on a mountainside to pray. I just get this picture of Jesus loving on all of these people, but then getting the itch to get away and pray to the Father, so he finishes taking care of his flock and then sends everyone off so he can get away to pray. I like that image! It further shows how prayer is not a chore Prayer is a time of renewal, growth, and something we should LONG for! It's time to build relationship with the Father, mano y mano one on one Do we have this similar longing for intimate fellowship with the Father through prayer? Let's pray that we will! (And YAY that we're caught up now and I can follow with you guys!)
